Muchas Caras

Muchas Caras is a series of pieces based on the diverse tropical context of Colombia and various reflections around the mask. This is represented through a set of expressive objects, which reflect the meaning of the gestures for the Kamentsá community located in Putumayo, they themselves are the ones who make and paint the carved wooden pieces. The community lives and is aware of its environment and nature, which is why all the pieces are made with wood that comes from fallen trees or grown for artisanal purposes. Closed eyes mean looking inside yourself. Open eyes mean appreciating what is around you. Looking to the side means ignoring something that is happening in front of us. Open mouth means laughter. The “O” shaped mouth means amazement. The hands mean the work of the earth and contact with nature.

People can relate to these objects in different ways by joining them, combining them or using them separately, whether on surfaces or walls.
